Everyone knows that your daily routine is a major way to keep you well-balanced. If you don’t feel up to the day’s challenges, it can be pretty easy to fall into a rut. Your mind and body can suffer from stress. If you are prone to this, your routine can get boring after a while.
For those of us who have very demanding careers or families, we may find ourselves wishing for more days off in a week but simply cannot afford one on a weekly basis. Therefore, we opt for daily routines, even though they seem to take away from our day. Of course, if you do your daily routine, you are not tired on the weekends!
The problem is that, as our jobs become more stressful, we start to look for ways to make our daily routines more manageable. We have fallen into a pattern where we have no energy, meaning we are less able to enjoy the day and it has no meaning.
One of the most common problems for those who suffer from this is exhaustion. With our jobs becoming more stressful, people are forced to make more tasks. At the same time, we tend to want to do many more things at the same time.
Some people, including myself, have two jobs; one full-time and one part-time. Each requires multiple tasks, and then there is everything else we have to do. As the demands increase, we tend to go into a state of exhaustion where our bodies can barely get through the day.
I believe it all starts with the complexity of our lives; that our daily routines can often work against us when we need them most. We are just unaware of how they affect us.
One way that this can manifest itself is in our habits. We tend to repeat those habits over again. Instead of going to the gym three times a week, we now go twice a week. That’s what happens when you get comfortable with something – it becomes automatic.
Instead of trying to manage every aspect of your life, it’s time to break it down. Try to look at your daily routine and see if it is truly making a difference in you.
It’s one thing to wake up feeling rested and refreshed, but it’s quite another to actually sit down and start your day. Some of us are now working longer hours, and this is where our routines begin to pull us down. This also makes it hard to get up and out of bed on time.
By trying to stay as healthy as possible, we can still get into the same routines, but we just aren’t stuck into them. To make sure you are getting the maximum benefit from your daily routine, look at the challenges and how they are impacting you, rather than doing them as a habit.
Exercise is one way that you can think about making a change. Think about how much better you will feel if you combine a healthy diet with exercise each day.
